The Mario Lemieux Foundation was created in 1993 by hockey legend Mario Lemieux. In that year, Mario was enjoying the greatest season of his brilliant career and on pace to establish a new NHL scoring record. Then he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease. Mario battled and won the cancer fight and began focusing on those that are not so fortunate.
Part of the Foundation fund-raising effort includes the Mellon Mario Lemieux Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament. CustomQuest worked directly with the Foundation to provide 1400 custom BBQ sets as gifts for the 2005 event. This custom set was selected for its high perceived value and uniqueness.
